There are many light strips to choose from on the market, but different light strips have different effects. First of all, you need to consider the needs of your installation. Some people use it purely for lighting, and some people use the living room for work and entertainment. Therefore, dimmable RGB lights can achieve the best of both worlds in the same space.

Check the type of Ceiling

First, you need to mark out the length and width of the ceiling. Make sure it’s a smooth surface, not uneven. If the ceiling is a plasterboard structure, then you can use traditional light fixtures. Plan your route, find a power source, and measure the length of light strip you need.

Cutting the Right Size of LED Strip

After unpacking the light bar, we need to cut the corresponding length of the light bar according to the length of the ceiling. Make sure the light strips are fully connected before you start, then plug them in.

Locate the Power Source

To secure the power supply, depending on the length of the LED strips used, there may be one power supply unit per box, or only one for multiple strips. So you’ll need to place it near your power outlet, and it should provide enough output for your needs.

Install the LEDs On The Ceiling

First of all, you need to drill holes in the ceiling, preferably with an electric drill, so as not to damage the surface of the ceiling with excessive force. There are many ways to install the light bar, you can use 3M glue on the back of the LED, or you can install a clip to fix it. Of course, you can also use it with accessories.

Connect the LED strip to a power source

Now you can use an extra length of LED strip, or extension cord to connect it to your outlet, and turn them on. If you are not sure about the wiring in your home, we strongly recommend that you seek help from a local electrician.

Cover the back with tape

We need to use tape to cover up any unwanted visible cables and wires, otherwise, it looks like a mess! Make sure your LED strips blend in with the ceiling as much as possible.
